(1) The federal government's ability to pay renewable subsidies is dependent on taking that money from taxpayers. The idea that won't impact taxpayers is based upon the feds ability to print money, increasing the federal debt, which is NOT a good thing. So, you can pay increased power costs, or increased taxes, including the interest in the federal debt, which now exceeds the cost of defense. (2) The increase in transmission costs was largely CAUSED by renewables being situated far from the load centers in DFW, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. More renewables would mean even higher transmission costs for long high-voltage transmission lines, while new natural gas plants can be sited closer to loads. (3) The assumption that more gas turbines won't be available is based on the idea that GE Vernova, Siemens, and other producers will not ramp up production to meet demand—which they are already doing. It wold also be nicer if the analysis were based on the actual bill the President signed, rather than what came out of the Senate. We need electrical power from all sources.
