The future of energy is distributed. To understand the policy, technology, and market issues and opportunities for DER adoption, I talked with Arushi Sharma Frank of Luminary Strategies.
Some big music energy nerd like me may figure it out. But most may wonder WTH was up w/ the oboe & second string reference which came to my mind while discussing energy system changes as an orchestra. The first orchestras (in the late 1600s) were mainly string instruments. A pair of oboes was sometimes used to strengthen the first & second string- violin- parts. Composers then began writing separate parts for the oboe, exploiting its singing tone as a contrast to the strings. The bright, rather penetrating sound of the oboe was easy to hear, and its pitch was more stable than gut strings, so it was natural to rely on it for tuning .(One can also imagine it settling, or preventing arguments. Twenty string players squabbling over a tuning note, then asking the oboist to intervene). Other instruments drifted in and out of the orchestra – flutes, bassoon, French horns, clarinets – before its instrumentation became relatively standardized as we know it today. But oboes were almost always present, so they became the standard instrument for tuning. - History cited from The Rockford Symphony Orchestra.
When I’m driving I just have to pull over and switch to Substack to listen to full interviews, there have been some that just have a teaser and a few from the old podcast that are just gone.
It’s a good resource and unless I can find it in the internet archive it’s lost, the Rudy Garza one Is one that I’ve missed haven’t dug around for it.
Havei g them for a permanent record would be helpful.
Anyway you can put these up on Apple Podcasts after a few weeks or so? I often want to listen when driving and switching to Substack is a bit of a pain and I can’t share the episode. Sort of like the Patreon model. Paid subscribers get access but it goes out to the public at a later date. You get more listeners eventually.
I don’t understand the details, but if you’re a paid subscriber to Doug’s substack you can get the “RSS feed” private podcasts which have full-length versions of “premium” podcasts:
I think this one is available in the public podcast:

David, thanks for asking. The Energy Capital Podcast is on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. The paid subscriber only ones have a preview on those platforms but the full is behind the paywall and only on Substack. The one with Rudy was the previous podcast I did, the Texas Power Podcast with Renewable Energy World. Link to Rudy's is here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/texas-would-be-crazy-to-penalize-renewables-cps-energy/id1645114808?i=1000612632015
All the Texas Power Podcasts are here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/texas-power-podcast/id1645114808
