Texas power demand is rising fast, even faster than China’s, as large loads locate in the Lone Star State. Consumption has been higher in Texas every single month in 2025 compared to 2024.
But while demand is surging, so is supply. ERCOT’s interconnection queue is over 430 gigawatts, up about 30% from two years ago.
Texas’ supply — not the queue, but what’s actually on the grid — has grown by 35% over the last four years.
I’ll have a lot more information in the presentation today where I’ll break down the latest supply and demand trends, and look at some continuing areas of vulnerability for the Texas grid, as well as emerging potential strengths. And we’ll leave time for discussion and Q&A afterward.
